Local’s music skills land him spot in Fightin’ Gator band

Robert “Bobby” Polidan graduated cum laude from Creekside High School in St. Johns County, Fla., on June 5. His parents are John and Barb Mizla Polidan.
Polidan is the recipient of a University of Florida Music Scholarship, the St. Augustine Jazz Society Scholarship, a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship and received the first John Philip Sousa Award given at Creekside High School.
Traveling to join Bobby for his graduation were John and Margaret Mizla, Mark and Lori Mizla, Joanna Mizla and Bob and Marilyn Polidan. Bobby started playing trumpet in the fifth grade at Danbury Elementary under the direction of Richard Price. Polidan began his college career at UF this summer studying music and international business. He will be a trumpet playing member of “The Pride of the Sunshine,” the University of Florida Fightin’ Gator Marching Band.
