May 1, 1950 — March 3, 2010 Russell Scott Newman passed away on the evening of March 3, 2010, at Elmwood Health Care Center at the Springs in Green Springs, Ohio, after a 10-year battle with a debilitating stroke. Russell was born May 1, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio. He worked as a heavy crane operator and enjoyed the outdoors. Russell is survived by his children, Hillary Newman, of Lakeside, Russell (Corie) Newman, of Port Clinton, and Craig (Heather) Newman, of Oak Harbor; grandchildren Sara-Danielle Newman, Madelaine Newman, Christian Newman, Braden Newman and Parker Newman; sisters Angie (Dwane) Wears, of Lacarne, and Juanita Gilbert, of Port Clinton. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Nancy (Alexander) Newman. A celebration of his life will be 1 to 5 p.m. May 1, 2010, at the Erie Township Hall adjacent to the Erie Township Fire Station.
