Edward Daniel Carnicom, 69, of Ashland passed away on Monday, March 26, following an extended illness. Calling hours will take place from 5 to 9 pm on Wednesday, March 28, at Fickes Funeral Home, 84 N. High St., Jeromesville, Ohio (www.fickesfuneralhome.com). A funeral service will follow on Thursday, March 29, at 11 a.m., also at Fickes Funeral Home.
Stephen and Patricia Horn, of Catawba Island, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Sue Horn, to Kyle Joseph Gaab, son of James and Audrey Gaab, and Karen Gaab, all of Independence.
The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Port Clinton High School and a 2012 graduate of Keiser University with an associate degree in nursing. She is currently employed with Community Behavioral Services, Orange Park, Fla.
The groom-elect is a 2002 graduate of Independence High School. He is active duty with the United States Coast Guard. The couple is currently stationed in Jacksonville, Fla.

Betty Jane Rife, 85, of Northwood, Ohio and formerly of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died early Wednesday morning, March 21, in Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, Ohio.
Visitation was Sunday, March 25, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. Ohio 579, Martin (Blackberry), with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown.
