Dorothy L. Engler, 94, of Port Clinton, died Aug. 13, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, with visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.

Dave and Gail Shell were married Aug. 25, 1962 — 50 years ago — in Monroe, Mich.  Their friends at Orchard Isle gave them a surprise 50th anniversary party where they wore wedding attire and renewed their vows on the shores of Lake Erie. Following the ceremony was a golf cart procession around the community ending with a dinner reception at Orchard Isle.

March 9, 1931 — Aug. 3, 2012
On Friday, Aug. 3, Barbara Bailey passed away peacefully at her home with her children at her side. She had spent seven years dealing with Neuro-Endocrine cancer. 
Barbara was born on March 9, 1931, to Frances and Stensen Petersen, of Port Clinton.  She graduated from PCHC class of 1949, and went on to major in Music and Education at Ohio State University, where she was also a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.  In 1953 she married Benjamin Bailey, of Salem. She spent 20 years as an Air Force wife, setting up her household and raising her family in nine locations around the country and Puerto Rico. In many of her postings she taught school and was always involved in the community and social activities of the Officer’s Wives’ Clubs. She was also interested in genealogy and spent time seeking out and organizing information on her children’s ancestry. After military retirement, Barbara returned to Port Clinton.

Feb. 28, 1948 — Aug. 1, 2012
Jonathan Brenton Blessing, 28, of Port Clinton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his summer residence on Put-in-Bay. 
Visitation for Jonathan will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. The funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, beginning with prayers offered at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. prior to mass.
