Terra State board welcomes two new members

The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees added two new members during its regular April meeting.

Matt Montowski of Catawba Island and Kay E. Reiter of Fremont were sworn in by board chair Carl Koebel. 

Montowski has been a self-employed independent insurance agent in Ottawa County for 23 years. He has also been a Catawba Island Township Trustee for nearly four years. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ashland University.

ODNR anticipates good fishing at Lake Erie in 2013

Lake Erie anglers should enjoy diverse fishing opportunities in 2013, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“When you consider the mix of species and sizes that are seasonally available to Ohio anglers, we are optimistic about the fishing prospects this year,” said Jeff Tyson, Lake Erie fisheries program manager for the ODNR Division of Wildlife. “Weather is always a wild card at Lake Erie, but if conditions are similar to those in 2012, anglers should have excellent seasonal opportunities this year to catch walleye, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, white bass and steelhead.”

Environmental law enforcement training workshop

Experts involved in local, state and federal efforts to fight environmental crimes will share their knowledge with law enforcement, public officials, community leaders and public defenders at a free workshop sponsored by Keep Ohio Beautiful (KOB), a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. The workshop will take place in Port Clinton on May 3.
