Soccer team loses, and wins, at state tournament

On Saturday in Cincinnati, the Port Clinton boys U10 soccer team played in the Ohio area state tournament in Cincinnati. The final score, after double overtime and a shoot-out, was Fairfield, 2, Port Clinton 1. The Port Clinton team lost, and it won. It lost the game to number one seeded Fairfield and it won enriching experiences and lessons. During regulation play, a Port Clinton goal was disallowed on a controversial off-sides call. In the shoot-out, there was another controversial and game-deciding call.

Erie Ottawa International Airport

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Erie-Ottawa International Airport Director Stan Gebhardt, Eigan Matho, Ashley Matho and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Port Director Eugene Matho Jr. at the celebration of the first international flight into Erie Ottawa International Airport (PCW). 

On Saturday Erie-Ottawa International Airport (PCW) welcomed its first international flight. U. S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, State Sen. Randy Gardner, State Rep. Chris Redfern, Erie and Ottawa County Commissioners and dozens of observers greeted the flight from Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada. The flight, piloted by Griffing Flying Service president Thomas Griffing, carried Ottawa County Commissioner Jim Sass and Erie County Commissioner Tom Ferrell.

Stars Dance for CASA Nov. 23

The 6th Season of Ottawa County Stars Dance for CASA will be held on Nov. 23 at the Camp Perry Conference Center. The Stars this year are: Pat Adkins, Ann Duez, Roseann Hickman, Carlos Mincheff, Angela Rahm, and Rich Riedmaier. They will be joined by professional dancers Timothy and Annessia Nyman, Craig Olszewski, Lisa Ramsey, Hank Fox and MaryAnn Snider. The event will be hosted by Judge Kathleen Giesler and Chief Bob Bratton. There will also be a live auction by Greg Peiffer as well as many silent auction items. The tickets are $30 and include substantial appetizers from Ward Catering and Desserts provided by Sweet Treats by Tim. Tickets can be purchased at NBOH branches in Oak Harbor and Port Clinton as well as the CASA office at 419-301-0225. The event promises to be a star-studded evening of great entertainment in support of a great cause. CASA provides highly trained volunteers to advocate and be the voice for abused and neglected children.
