Kiwanis Boys Basketball Program starts Nov. 16

The Port Clinton Kiwanis Club is once again sponsoring the 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Boys Basketball Teams to provide the opportunity for the boys to gain experience, learn the game and have fun playing basketball. The program starts Saturday, Nov. 16, at noon in the PCHS Gymnasium with a basketball clinic day. Participants will be assigned to teams and learn about the practice schedule that first day. Games are played at Port Clinton High School on Saturdays through January.

Redskins honor Kohlman in final game

During times like these, we truly realize what’s important in life.

As most of you probably know by now, 13-year-old Devin Kohlman is battling cancer. The good folks of Ottawa County, specifically Port Clinton, have shown their support for the young man. In fact, according to The News Herald, $2,234.97 was raised at the game by people sitting in the stands. Eryn Nason, a senior cheerleader for the ‘Skins, organized the event, known as the “Dash for Cash.”

Pumpkin Math at Bataan Memorial Primary Elementary

Second grade students Carson Miller, Tabitha Duncan, and Alexa Taylor anxiously wait to see the inside of their pumpkin during Bataan Memorial Primary’s Pumpkin Math event on Oct. 31.

Grade 2 at Bataan Memorial Primary Elementary held their Annual Pumpkin Math event on Thursday, Oct. 31.  Every second grade classroom gathered in the Bataan cafeteria and, with the help of numerous volunteers, worked in small groups to complete the fun lesson. Together they measured and weighed their pumpkins, estimated then counted the number of seeds, and finally carved their group's pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern. This fun, holiday math activity reinforced skills of estimation, place value, weight and measurement.
