Firecracker Cutie Contest Returns to 4th of July Festivities

This year’s contest is open to all boys and girls age 0-10 years old and will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 4. Participants are asked to don their Red, White & Blue for the occasion.

Again this year is an optional “Most Photogenic” contest, which will be judged based on photographs sent in with the applications. These will be judged separately prior to July 4, and awards will be given at the afternoon ceremonies. Registration deadline for the “Most Photogenic” contest is June 30, and Firecracker Cutie contest applications are due the day of the event. Firecracker Cutie Applications will be accepted on the 4 starting at 2:15 p.m.

Awards will be presented at Adams Street Park immediately following the Firecracker Cutie Contest on July 4.

Port Clinton’s brain gain: Kelly and Billy Rigoni

Kelly Rigoni, a 1993 Port Clinton High School graduate, and her husband, Billy, have opened Hot Shots Photography and Northern Exposure Gallery that does custom framing, has jewelry and other gifts and décor. Kelly moved away to go to college and then lived in Fremont and Clyde before heading back to Port Clinton, the place her and Billy call home.

Kelly’s family had a business in downtown Port Clinton for 50 years, Bristley’s Jewelers and Art Department, which was owned by her grandparents and was located at 130 Madison Street. The location of her grandparents shop is just a few doors down where Kelly and Billy opened the doors for their business. Kelly’s parents also owned Barn Rats Bait and Tackle for ten years.

Summer Fun at Port Clinton City Schools

The last day of school for Port Clinton City School District students is June 5.  Even though students will no longer be in the classroom there are numerous summer activities taking place in the district. All the following camp forms can be found on the district website pccsd.net under the Bulletin Board.

Champions for Children will once again be offering their popular Summer Enrichment Camps.  There are ten, one-week sessions beginning on June 9 and ending on August 15.  The summer program offers child care from 7:30 a.m. in the morning until 3 p.m. in the afternoon with after camp care available until 6 p.m.  Participants will enjoy a wide-range of activities and interesting camp themes.  All this at an affordable rate provided by an award-winning program!  Call Jackie Warnicke for more information at 419-734-2815, ext 1112 or download the Reservation Form at pccsd.net.
