Mike has a cornucopia of gratitude this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is often a time of reflection. Michael Metzger, who recently moved to Ottawa County, took a moment to think about what he is most thankful for and answered that it was his family, friends, his ability to drive, and have fun. Mike’s life is full of people that he enjoys spending time with such as his mom, brother, Lisa (his girlfriend and best friend of 14 years), Lisa’s family, co-workers, self advocacy team members, his SSA and his counselor at The Giving Tree.

Steve Hall holds CD Release party at Keith Fleming Gallery

Quirky singer/songwriter Steve Hall will hold a release party for his new CD “Twisted”  from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Keith Fleming Gallery, 132 E. Second St., in Port Clinton.

The veteran songwriter/musician is best known locally for playing bass and mandolin with the Naked Bacon Band and for his goofy, affectionate video tribute, “Drop Anchor in Port Clinton,” which has garnered more than 23,000 views worldwide on YouTube. He recently posted a new YouTube video, “Zombie Love,” which features his signature tune, the undead and a certain famous blonde doll.

Port Clinton’s first Christkindl Markt

We believe that the health and welfare of our communities is dependent upon the success of the arts. Art is not a frivolous endeavor, it is essential to the human creative spirit.

The history and traditions of Christmas in Germany are rich and varied.  Some of our more popular songs such as "Silent Night" originated in Germany.  The name we often use for Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, was created from "Christ Child".  From this evolved one of the best loved traditions in Germany, the Christkindl Markt, an outdoor Christmas Market which is an annual festival in German culture.
