Fly-In Drive-In pancake breakfast August 17

“Tin Goose” Chapter 1247 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be hosting its annual Fly-In / Drive-In Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, August 17. This event is open to the public and will be held inside the new hangar at the Liberty Aviation Museum complex (3515 E. State Road, Port Clinton) from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Breakfast includes coffee, juice, sausage and all-you-can-eat pancakes. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds from the breakfast will be used for Tin Goose Chapter 1247's college scholarship fund, Young Eagles program and on-going Ford Tri-Motor restoration project.

Ugandan Kids Choir performs at Lakeview Park

The Ugandan Kids Choir preformed for a crowd of supporters at Lakeview Park Wednesday, August 6. The children in the Ugandan Kids Choir bring a message of hope by sharing their African folklore and the power of God’s love through music and dance. The children have been brought out of poverty to travel the world to perform and spread their message. The choir tours the country and gives people an opportunity provide education and hope for those struggling themselves.

Port Clinton firefighters looking for past members

Port Clinton Fire Chief Kent Johnson is on a special mission to pay homage to past firefighters that served on his department. “Due to a substantial donation earlier this year, we are taking on a huge project to honor those who came before us in the department,” said Chief Johnson. “We are huge history buffs, so this is a great project for us.”

The chief intends to place grave memorial markers on each grave of the Port Clinton Firefighters in the area, but he is having some trouble locating them all.

“We have used old yearbooks and rosters and we have a pretty substantial list compiled,” said Chief Johnson, “but I am confident it is not complete.”
