Yankee Air Force supports the Warbirds Over Port Clinton

Yankee Lady, the pristine World War II Boeing B-17G heavy bomber and Yankee Warrior, the combat veteran B-25D Mitchell medium bomber, will be flying into Erie-Ottawa International Airport supporting the Warbirds Over Port Clinton air show.   The radio controlled air show opens Saturday morning August 23 at 9 a.m. and the B-25 Yankee Warrior will arrive shortly thereafter.  The four-engine Flying Fortress will arrive on Sunday morning helping open the second day. Both planes are based at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti Michigan.  The B-25 will be available for Flight Experience (FLEX) rides on Saturday and the B-17 will offer rides on Sunday.

Ida Rupp to host Scholastic Book Fair August 18-22

The Friends of the Ida Rupp Public Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair from August 18-22.  The fair will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day as long as volunteers are available.  Volunteers are still needed.  Call Terri at 419-732-3212 to volunteer for a two hour time slot.  

Funds raised will help purchase books for children of all ages. Families and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.

The Book Fair offers specially priced books and educational products, including popular series, award-winning titles, new releases, adult bestsellers, and other great reads from more than 100 publishers.

Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.  For more information or to check on hours the fair will be open a certain day, contact Ida Rupp Public Library at 419-732-3212.

Fly-In Drive-In pancake breakfast August 17

“Tin Goose” Chapter 1247 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be hosting its annual Fly-In / Drive-In Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, August 17. This event is open to the public and will be held inside the new hangar at the Liberty Aviation Museum complex (3515 E. State Road, Port Clinton) from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Breakfast includes coffee, juice, sausage and all-you-can-eat pancakes. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds from the breakfast will be used for Tin Goose Chapter 1247's college scholarship fund, Young Eagles program and on-going Ford Tri-Motor restoration project.
