Lakeside Chautauqua donates to the Danbury Food Pantry

Lakeside Chautauqua’s living arts center, known as the Rhein Center, initiated a project this summer to help the Danbury Food Pantry during a time of urgent need.

The Danbury Food Pantry had its funding cut by 80 percent due to a change in the federal government’s funding formula. The Rev. Jeannine Dress, founder of the food pantry, reported that the new funding is now based on year-round residency instead of unemployment rates. Due to the fact that there are few year-round residents on the Marblehead Peninsula, the new level of funding does not meet the peninsula’s needs.

Danbury comes up short against St. Mary CC, 36-14

Danbury came into its matchup with St. Mary Central Catholic hoping to get a big victory that would move them to 3-0 and give them momentum heading into the conference slate.

Unfortunately, the Lakers fell short in their contest with the Panthers, losing 36-14, but Danbury did prove it could play with SMCC, keeping pace in a game that was closer than the final score indicated and taking a step in the right direction for a program that is looking to build its foundation.

With the loss, the Lakers fell to 2-1 while the Panthers improved to 1-2.
