Christmas in July more than a party

The Jet Express was packed with passengers this weekend heading over to Put-in-Bay to take part in the biggest weekend party of the year — Christmas in July.  But this time of year offers more than just fun in the sun, it’s also a chance to further the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. With bell ringers set up around Port Clinton, this year’s push was a big success.
The Salvation Army-Port Clinton Service Unit — with staff and volunteers at Kroger, Community Market, the Jet and on Put-in-Bay — brought in $3,107.68.
Maureen Saponari, Human Services Director for the PC Service Center, would like to extend special thanks to residents of Ottawa County who took the challenge of our economy at heart by pulling together to make this truly Christmas in July.
Proceeds from the drive, which ran July 23-25, will go to the Salvation Army’s Toy Program.
For information on Salvation Army’s PC Service Unit and how to help, contact Saponari at 419-732-2769 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
