| Festivities under way |
The fair was in full swing by Monday night when Zak Avers and Molly Hansen were named this year’s Ottawa County Junior Fair king and queen.![]() Hansen, 19, is attending The University of Toledo majoring in middle childhood education. She has been involved in Country Kids 4-H, Jr. Fair Board, CarTeens and is a camp counselor. Molly wrote in her essay that she would like to become a role model as queen, as prior queens were to her as she was growing up, because “there is no better feeling than being an influencing factor in a child’s happiness.” Hansen is the daughter of Richard and Tracy Hansen. Avers, 17, will be a senior at Woodmore High School this fall. Zak is a member of Jr. Leadership, Jr. Fairboard, Country Crew 4-H and participates in football and basketball at school. Zak stated in his essay how much he loves the fair, and looks forward to representing the fair this coming year as king. Avers is the son of Steve and Peggy Avers. The fair continues through Saturday with a variety of entertainment options: demilition derby, music, motorcycle racing, tractor pull, chainsaw carving and more.
