| Bicycle helmet safety film casting call |
|
Closer Look Films is announcing an open casting call for an upcoming short film project on bicycle helmet safety. Dangerous life-threatening accidents on bicycles, brought about by riders who are not wearing a helmet, has become a major issue and one of great concern for The Brain Injury Association of America.
Closer Look’s concept for a film that mixes drama with education has gained interest from several members of the association as well as those who produce the bicycle safety helmets. Writer-director Thomas Brown will be interviewing potential cast at from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Ida Rupp Public Library meeting room. The movie calls for three to six boys in the 12- to 14-year-old range who are very articulate, have a good personality and enjoy acting. The candidates must also be able to ride a bicycle and are available on one or two Saturdays. The project also needs adults to play parents, sidewalk bystanders, etc. The bicycle helmet safety film known as “Charley” is part of Closer Look’s “Because We Love You” series; in which real kids educate about important safety issues in short three-part films designed for younger children. The group has already produced “Tommy” which deals with strangers and child-abduction, and several more concepts are in development.
