FFA sales team competes at state level |
|
The Oak Harbor/Penta FFA Agriculture Sales Team placed 18th at the State Agriculture Sales Career Development Event on March 6 at Tolles Technical Center in Plain City, Ohio. The sales team consisted of Kyle Wendt, Johnathan Kitzler, Tyler Kitzler and Bret Braun. The Career Development Event is composed of an objective test, sales demonstration and customer relations practicum. The test is designed to assess the team members’ understanding of the sales process and the role selling plays in marketing agriculture products. The sales demonstration assesses the team member’s ability to properly develop and sell an agricultural product to a customer and properly conclude the sales transaction.
Wendt developed his own company called KW Helmets that designs and produces helmets for recreational and agricultural uses. Johnathan Kitzler represented the Georgia Boot Company while selling boots at the Ohio Power Show. Tyler Kitzler was representing Kitzler Hardware selling garden hoes to a customer who just recently had broken their garden hoe. Braun was selling a bench chain grinder at the Ohio Hardware Convention representing Oregon Outdoor Equipment. The practicum consisted of the participant interacting with a customer to determine how to help the customer with their complaint. This year the students were acting as if they were sales representatives from Blossom and Bud Greenhouse. Their goal was to find other solutions for the customer instead of returning a bag of flower seed they had purchased a month ago. Each team member competes separately in these three events and then each individual score is totaled for an overall team score. The Oak Harbor/Penta FFA advisors are Noah Neiderhouse, Louie Damschroder and Krysteena Brown.
