Danbury Pool opens back up next week

Danbury Local Schools will reopen its pool for the 2010-2011 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Open swims are as follows:
• Monday through Friday: Lap swim from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.
• Monday through Thursday: Open swim from 5 to 6 p.m.
• Monday and Wednesday: Open swim from 7 to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday: Open swim from 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost for adults is $3 or a 10-session pass for $25; students are $2. Pool rental is available for $40/hour.
If there is no school, the pool is closed. If school is delayed, there will be no morning swim.
All swimmers should use the entrance at the west end of the building.

Red Cross offers First Aid, CPR classes

Take an American Red Cross class and learn how to save a life.
The following classes are being offered in September at Magruder Hospital Conference Center, 615 Fulton St., Port Clinton:
Adult CPR — 6 to 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13

Magruder Hospital gets new general surgeon

A new general surgeon has joined the staff at Magruder Hospital. Isidro A. Amigo, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., brings 25 years of surgical experience.Amigo
Amigo earned his bachelor of arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and his doctor of osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lansing, Mich. He completed his internship at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, and his residency in general surgery at Doctors Hospital in Columbus.

• Monday — WIC Clinic, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Immunization Clinic, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Tuesday —WIC Clinic, 12:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Wednesday — Family Planning Clinic, 12:45 p.m. to 4  p.m.
• Sept. 2 — Well Child, STD and Family Planning Cinic, 8 a.m. to noon
• Sept. 3 — No Clinics

Sign up now for Sacred Art of Living and Dying

An innovative training program called the Sacred Art of Living and Dying will be held Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 10-11, at Sawmill Creek Lodge in Huron. The program is sponsored by Stein Hospice, based in Sandusky and serving patients and their families in Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Lorain counties.
