World Day of Prayer
WHAT:
The theme for the prayerful and musical celebration is “Let Everything that has breath praise God.” This movement brings together women of many races, cultures and traditions in more than 170 countries all joining their voices in both prayer and song at the same time.

“Nicholas Nickleby”
WHAT:
The Friends of the Ida Rupp Public Library will show “Nicholas Nickleby” (2002/UK/PG/132 minutes).
Admission is free and open to the public. A young compassionate man struggles to save his family and friends from the abusive exploitation of his coldheartedly grasping uncle. Based on the Charles Dickens novel.

Nature Tots: Animal Tracks
WHAT:
Children ages 3 to 5 and their favorite adult are invited to the free monthly “Nature Tots” program. Children will learn how to recognize common animal tracks, make a track craft and listen to a story. If weather permits, we’ll head outside for a short walk, so please dress to be outside.

Bowl for a cause
WHAT:
Churches from Marblehead, Oak Harbor, Port Clinton and Catawba are uniting to raise money to provide food to Haiti in the wake of the Jan. 12 earthquake. The evening will feature bowling, a 50/50 and other raffles with a grand prize one-night stay at Kalahari for a family of four, which includes water park passes. There will also be face painting and balloons for children.
WHEN: 5 to 9 p.m.
WHERE: Harbor Lanes Bowling Alley, Buckeye Boulevard
COST: $2 for bowling and $2 for bowling shoes. All the money collected is being sent to “Kids Against Hunger.”

Murder Gets the Vote

Memoryworks Dinner Theater show: Who killed Sen. Samuel Snootful and the ravishing singer,
Suzanne Steamy? Was it Roxanne, the glamorous, provocative wife? Big Orville, the murky mobster? The reporter who knows more than he should? Or Miss Rare Earth, the flamboyant environmentalist? Follow the twists and turns with dogged Detective Horsit until he stumbles upon the startling solution.

PERS luncheon
WHAT:
The Ottawa County Public Employees Retirees Chapter 82 meeting. The speaker will be Jessica Ford, the Regional Community Affairs Director for Northwest Ohio. She will present information on responsibilities of the Ohio Treasury and available resources. Also speaking will be Brenda Griffith, regional liaison for the Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner’s office will be presenting information on voting rights.  All PERI and PERS members are welcome to attend.

Pancake Supper
WHAT:
Port Clinton’s own Bob Underwood will be the chef for the meal sponsored by Friends of Port Clinton Parks. The menu includes pancakes, sausage or bacon, fruit cup and beverages.

Tiaze prayer service
WHAT:
Prayer in the spirit of the Taize Community is a meditative form of common prayer. The group sings uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words. All are invited to attend. Fellowship will follow in the church hall.

“Swimming Upstream”

Pheasants Forever Banquet
WHAT:
The Erie-Ottawa-Sandusky Chapter of Pheasants Forever invites wildlife enthusiasts, sportsmen, kids and couples to its 19th annual fundraiser. Events will include live and silent auctions, raffles and door prizes, along with a catered dinner. Beer and soft drinks will be provided, with a cash bar for mixed drinks. Tickets go on sale in late January.

Naturally Speaking
WHAT:
Jamie Kochensparger, education specialist for Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, will present “Shades of Green:  Simple Things You Can Do to Help the Earth.” Learn simple, everyday things you can do that can add up to a big impact - both in green savings and a green environment. See what new products are being made from renewable sources and what's on the horizon. This presentation is part of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Association's Naturally Speaking seminar series, generally held on the second Sunday of each month.

Pot O' Gold Game Day
WHAT:
Seniors and guests are invited to participate in a variety of games of their choosing such as cards, dominoes, L-R-C, corn hole, or are welcomed to bring their own games. Danbury Seniors have issued a challenge to all seniors to compete in a Wii Bowling Tournament with a "travelling trophy" to be awarded to the winning site. Hot sandwiches and beverages will be provided; seniors are asked to bring a plate of veggies or dessert for sharing. Raffles and door prizes will also be part of the activities.
