Trio taking the stage Sunday

The Musical Arts Series at Firelands presents Quelque Chose at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at Firelands Presbyterian Church, East Harbor Road, Port Clinton.  Quelque Chose, a trio of piano, violin and horn, will perform Robert Garcia, Greg Kostraba and Rico McNeela will perform Sunday at Firelands Presbyterian Church.selections by Johannes Brahms, Johann Friedrich Nisle and William Grant Still.
Pianist Greg Kostraba, well-known former Classical Music host of WGTE-FM, leads the trio. Kostraba earned semi-finalist status at the Fourth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs with a performance described as “mesmerizing.”  He holds master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, has performed solo piano and chamber music throughout the Midwest in university and museum settings, and has been heard nationwide on National Public Radio’s Performance Today. Kostraba is currently program director at WBAA-AM and FM in West Lafayette, Ind.
Joining Kostraba are Rico McNeela on violin and Robert Garcia on horn. McNeela, director of orchestral studies at the University of Toledo, studied at the Cleveland Institute and the University of Michigan. He has served as a faculty member of several Midwestern and eastern universities as well as on the faculties of several summer music festivals. He has performed extensively as a conductor, violinist and violist and has been featured on the Cambria and Nuance record labels.
Garcia has performed extensively throughout the Midwest and was a semi-finalist in the the American Horn Competition and a finalist in the CCM concerto competition. A native of El Paso, Texas, Garcia holds a master of horn performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. When not playing his horn, Garcia is the senior director of admissions and financial aid at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington, D.C.
Tickets for the concert are $15 and are available at the door. Student admission is free. A reception to meet the trio will be held following the performance. This concert is made available through the sponsorship of Miller Boat Line, Brands’ Marinas and WGTE.
