Feb. 25

European River Cruise presentation
WHAT:
Tom and Joyce Jagucki will talk about their 21-day vacation in July of 2008. Their dream trip is well documented in pictures, sure to warm everyone up. They spent 16 days on a River Cruise, beginning in Austria, and ending in Switzerland. The three majestic rivers the Jagucki’s traveled along were the Rhine, Main, and Danube.

Republican Lunch Bunch
WHAT:
Josh Mandel , Candidate for the Ohio Treasurer, will be the speaker at the monthly Fourth Thursday event. Mandel who represents the 17th District in the Ohio House has much financial experience and has served our country for eight years in Iraq as an Intelligence Specialist with the Marine Corps.  He is a graduate of OSU and Case Western. No reservations are necessary for the $10 buffet lunch.  All are welcome to the hour long lunch.

Retired Teacher’s Association Meeting
WHAT:
WTOL, Channel 11 weatherman Robert Shiels will be the speaker for the Ottawa County Retired Teachers Association’s meeting.

The Gathering
WHAT:
Free, community meal. Blood pressure checks available at no charge.

Capital University Big Band
WHAT:
The 18-plus-piece undergraduate, award-winning jazz ensemble that performs both standard/traditional and contemporary repertoire as part of Terra’s 2010 Winter Jazz Festival
WHEN: 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Port Clinton High School’s Performing Arts Center, 821 Jefferson St.
COST: Tickets are $5 and available at Terra’s CollegeStore and Mary’s Blossom Shop in Port Clinton. Tickets will also be available at the door the evening of the concert.

Book discussion
WHAT:
“Gods in Alabama” by Joshilyn Jackson will be discussed. Copies of this title are available for checkout at the library.

“The Station Agent”
WHAT:
The Friends of the Ida Rupp Public Library will show “The Station Agent” (2003/USA/R/89 minutes).
Admission is free and open to the public. Loneliness is better when you have someone to share it with.  When his only friend dies, a man born with dwarfism moves to rural New Jersey to live a life of solitude, only to meet a chatty hot dog vendor and a woman dealing with her own personal loss.

Firelands Musical Arts Series

The Berea College Chamber Singers will perform a wide range of music.

Red Cross CPR
WHAT:
Learn how to respond to a sudden life-threatening emergency by taking advantage of American Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Participants will learn how to clear obstructed airways of conscious and unconscious victims, how to perform rescue breathing and how to administer CPR. Pre-registration is required for all classes and class size is limited.

Legends of Jazz
WHAT:
Renowned jazz singer Ellen Winters will perform with the Terra Thunder Jazz Band and State of the Art. The Terra Thunder Jazz Band is a unique ensemble of student and community musicians performing both traditional and contemporary jazz and big band sounds. State of the Art is a contemporary vocal ensemble that performs both jazz and pop vocal repertoire.

“Nicholas Nickleby”

Admission is free and open to the public. A young compassionate man struggles to save his family and friends from the abusive exploitation of his coldheartedly grasping uncle. Based on the Charles Dickens novel.
