| Danbury seniors bond over Wii bowling |
Walking in the door, you would never know you were entering a senior center. There is plenty of cheering, foot stomping and even a little heckling. You would swear you were at a high school basketball game, but the seniors in Danbury have decided to beat the winter blues by playing the Wii. They just completed a four-week bowling tournament. Each team comprised of seven individuals; the winning team was calculated by the most points after four weeks of play. Winners “Stanlene’s Terrors” had a total of 3,793 points after the four weeks beating “Emmet’s Warriors” who scored 3,757. Edgewood Manor donated gift cards for each of the members of the winning team. “We are a unique bunch of people and we never even knew it!,” said Pat Munn, a senior who regularly goes to the Danbury Senior Center and who coordinated the bowling tournament. “We come here everyday and talk about our children or the weather, not about ourselves, but this tournament changed that … we really bonded.” The center is getting ready to begin another tournament, lasting six weeks. If you are interested or would like information on what the Danbury Senior Center has to offer, call Director Paula Shenkel at 419-798-4104.
