Tots will make a special safari hat and then hunt for wild animals to take home. For the older grandkids at 9 a.m. there will be a grandparent/grandchild Wii Bowling Tournament. For those who haven’t tried the Wii yet, have no fear, Riverview will have you playing like a kid again.

Grandparents Day photo project launched on Facebook

Submit your pictures of generations working, learning and serving together

COLUMBUS — Grandparents Day is Sept. 12, and to celebrate, the Ohio Department of Aging is asking Ohioans to submit photos of grandparents and grandchildren working, learning and serving together via the agency’s page on Facebook.
“Each day, our state and communities benefit from the diverse ways five or more distinct generations interact at work, at play and through service to others,” said Barbara E. Riley, director of the department. “We need everyone’s help to show the world how the strength of our generations makes us a great state in which to grow up and grow old.”

Edgewood Manor throws summer beach party

Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Jimmy Buffet and Otis Redding were just a few of the artists that Keyboard Cleats played at Edgewood’s “Summer Beach Fling.” While bubbles gracefully floated through the air, smiles spread across the room as the residents enjoyed popsicle treats while donned in their multi-colored visors. Some chair dancing, lots of clapping and a little bit of singing along made the afternoon’s festivities a real hit. After an hour and a half of musical fun, a rousing beach volleyball game ensued.
