Vintage air power in Port Clinton on Labor Day weekend

Port Clinton resident and Tuskegee Pilot Col. (Ret.) Harold H. Brown with the P51 Mustang similar to the one he flew in World War II. Brown will be joining the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit coming to Erie Ottawa Regional Airport Aug 29-Sept. 1. 

Liberty Aviation Museum and Tri-Motor Heritage Museum in Port Clinton have, in their first year of operation, become a go-to location for enthusiasts of the Golden Age of Aviation and Warbirds of WWII in Northern Ohio. Adjacent to the revitalized Erie Ottawa Regional Airport, the museums, Tin Goose Diner and airport are attracting those interested in history and aviation and have become a favorite destination for tourists and for local citizens.

Stein Hospice Charity Golf Classic at Eagle Creek

The 19th annual Stein Hospice Charity Golf Classic will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk. Shotgun start is 1 p.m.

Registration is $200 per golfer, which includes a pair of golf shoes, green fees, cart, lunch, dinner, entertainment and live and silent auctions.

Grants available for labor camp updates

Owners/operators of existing or new agricultural labor camp throughout Ohio can access funds now to assist them with improving their farm-workers living quarters.

These funds are available through WSOS CAC and the program is made possible by a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) to the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies (OACAA), which contracted with WSOS to administer the funds.

Duck blind lotteries at State Parks set for Aug. 17

More than 280 permits are available to hunters wishing to construct a duck blind on several Ohio State Parks’ lakes this waterfowl hunting season. Lottery drawings will be held at the 16 participating state parks on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 17, along with lotteries for the use of 146 duck blinds available on two state wildlife areas.
