3 on 3 basketball tournament and picnic benefits Conestoga West End

 

The Conestoga West End held their annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament and neighborhood picnic on Saturday, Aug. 24. The event,  in conjunction with United Way in Ottawa County, raised money for the Conestoga West End neighborhood. The year before last the event raised enough money to purchase new backboards and basketball poles for the backboards. This year organizers hoped to raise money towards a new basketball court, playground equipment, a shelter house and maybe even a splash pad for the park.

Oak Harbor defeats Genoa in volleyball

Rebekah Rayburn goes up for a kill in Oak Harbor’s defeat of Genoa Saturday.

On Saturday Oak Harbor defeated Genoa in volleyball in a non-conference match. After a decisive win in the first set, 25-17, the Lady Rockets came back from a 7-0 deficit to take the second set, also 25-17. Genoa took the hard-fought third set 32-30, before Oak Harbor came back to take the fourth set 25-21.

Special meeting Danbury Township Board of Trustees

The Danbury Township Board of Trustees will meet in special session on Monday, Aug.  26,  at the Danbury Township Hall, at 5:30 p.m. for the sole purpose of considering whether any clarification is needed concerning the fire and EMS levy to appear on the November ballot and to adopt any resolution which may be required for that purpose."

Mutach’s bicentennial cookies contribute to reading program

Mutach’s Market in Lakeside-Marblehead is offering a tasty way to celebrate the War of 1812 bicentennial and also contribute to the reading program at Danbury school. Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery of Amherst, voted Best Bakery in America, designed the cookies and supplies Mutach’s with their famous snoogles and other pastries.
