Danbury Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.

Dear Editor,

There is a correction to last month’s Letter to the Editor regarding the spaghetti dinner held in Lakeside on Labor Day.

The manager of Port Clinton Kroger store was inadvertently reported as Robert Sears. The correct name is Robin Lind. The Danbury Township Fire Department Association wishes to thank Ms. Lind for her part in our spaghetti dinner and also apologizes for this mistake.

Devin’s Heart

The whole world watched in awe
As you smiled through it all.
You dealt with the pain,
And your reward is heaven’s gain
Your heart was so BIG
It brought a community together
Everybody loved, hugged and cried together
But now it’s time for you to go
And for your family
You proved it, you asked God to make it snow
So now the world will know forever
Devin’s heart will go on
It will last forever

Danbury 8th graders tour Gettysburg & Washington D.C.

The Danbury Middle School 8th grade class took a four-day educational trip last week to Gettysburg, PA, and Washington.

The group left Danbury in their charter bus on Tuesday (Election Day) at 6:20 a.m. and spent their first day in Gettysburg. Upon arrival at the Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center the students viewed a film, "A New Birth of Freedom", and the restored Gettysburg Cyclorama, which depicts the final fury of Gettysburg, "Pickett's Charge". The students then took a battlefield tour and went on a guided “ghost walk” through town that evening. They had dinner at the historic Dobbin House, which was part of the Underground Railroad prior to the Civil War.
