At their June 25th Regular Meeting, the Benton-Carroll-Salem Board of Education took on a number of issues to prepare the district for the coming school year. The meeting opened with Board members providing a number of committee reports.
Included in this discussion was the renewal of two levies. By a vote of 5-0, Board members approved a “Resolution of Necessity” regarding the renewal of a five-year 1.2 mill permanent improvement levy and the renewal of a five-year 3.9 mill operating levy. This is the first step toward getting these levy renewal issues on the November 5, 2013 ballot. “The renewals of these two levies are critical for the district moving forward. Voters would not see any increase in their taxes if these renewals are approved,” said Superintendent Guy Parmigian.
