Oak Harbor's run ends in the state semifinal

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and sadly Oak Harbor found that out Tuesday night as Gates Mills Hawken defeated the Rockets, 4-1, in a Division III State Semifinal at Cedar Point Stadium in Sandusky.

Throughout much of the match, the Hawks (16-1-5) utilized their speed and were able to consistently push the ball into the Oak Harbor zone, scoring two goals in each half to take a 2-0 before the Rockets rallied to cut the deficit in half on a goal by Alexa Weis with 12:10 remaining in the first half.

Oak Harbor defeats Margaretta to finish at 5-5

Margaretta fought ‘til the finish, but in the end Oak Harbor's size and physicality were too much as the Rockets defeated the Polar Bears, 35-14, on Friday night in Sandusky Bay Conference action at Rocket Stadium in Oak Harbor.

Oak Harbor established control from the beginning, scoring on the game's second play from scrimmage when running back Andrew Heberling scored from 71 yards out to make it 6-0 before Jourdan Maguire, who converted on all five of his PATs, kicked the extra point to give the Rockets a 7-0 advantage. On the touchdown, Heberling ran through a big hole on the right side before dashing to the right sideline and outrunning the Margaretta defenders for the score.

Perkins defeats Oak Harbor, 48-28

Perkins departed Friday night's game at Oak Harbor with a 48-28 victory over the Rockets, but it was a well-earned, hard-fought win that the Pirates are happy to have after being tested.

Oak Harbor (4-5, 3-3 SBC) scored on its first two possessions to take a 7-0 and 14-7 leads, respectively, in the first quarter before the Pirates rallied to take the lead for good at 21-14 on a 64-yard scamper by running back Dale Irby with 9:28 remaining in the first half. Perkins (9-0, 6-0) pushed the lead to 41-14 after scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter, though the Rockets did fight back to make it interesting.
