Rockets bounce back with a win over the Tigers

After losing two straight games, Oak Harbor’s softball team rallied to defeat Huron, 8-4, and get back in the win column.

Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth, the Rockets rallied and scored four runs to take the lead for good.

Justine Webb drew a walk and advanced to second on Emma Vidal's single. Both runners moved up on a passed ball and Webb later scored on a passed ball while Vidal advanced to third.

Theresa Stokes drew a walk to put runners on the corners, and Taylor Weborg reached on a wild throw by the shortstop. The throw, which allowed Vidal to score to cut the deficit to 4-3, was later recovered by the first baseman, who threw Stokes out at home.

Weborg stole second, and Brandy Lochotzki walked, putting runners on first and second. After both runners moved up on a passed ball, Olivia Rollins singled to bring home Weborg and tie the score at 4. Maddy Rathbun then grounded out to shortstop, scoring Lochotzki.

Lochotzki came up with a big play in the top of the fifth, helping to preserve Oak Harbor's lead.

With runners on first and second and one out, Huron's Madi Orzech hit a liner to center that Lochotzki ran down for the out, and, after throwing the ball to the infield, the Rockets were able to get the baserunner in a rundown before Stokes tagged her for the final out.

The Rockets (12-6, 2-4 SBC) scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to push the lead to four.
