Holding a one-point lead heading into the second quarter, the Port Clinton Redskins grabbed control against Fostoria by winning the middle two quarters by a 13-point margin to win, 72-52, in non-conference action last weekend.
Leading13-12 after one quarter, Port Clinton (7-12) outscored the Redmen 43-30 in the second and third quarter to blow the game open.
Nathan Stubblefield led all scorers with 23 points, 19 of which came in the first half. Carter Rumball scored 12 points and Tytan Rumball and Stefan Daniels finished with 10 points apiece. Kagen Brown had 11 points to lead Fostoria, and Hunter Abell chipped in with eight points.
Clyde 65, Port Clinton 49
After hanging tough for two quarters, Port Clinton fell behind after halftime before falling to Clyde, 65-49, in Sandusky Bay Conference action last week.
Down 32-27 at the half, the Redskins (2-11 SBC) went on a 6-0 run to briefly take a 33-32 advantage before the Fliers responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead for good. From there, Clyde slowly built its lead.
Derek Gray and Colin Gregory finished with 16 points apiece to lead all scorers while Tytan Rumball and Carter Rumball scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead Port Clinton.
The ‘Skins host Edison on Friday before beginning tournament play next week against Oak Harbor on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at Willard High School in the Division II Sectional Tournament.
