Lakers drop 2nd straight game, fall to 1-3

Despite getting 22 points from Erin Lavelle, the Danbury Lakers fell to Ottawa Hills 58-46 in Toledo Area Athletic Conference action last week.

The Green Bears, who got 16 points apiece from Olivia Van Slooten and Allie Dewire and 14 from Foster Smith, took a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and led 31-14 at halftime.

The Lakers were able to win the second half, outscoring Ottawa Hills, one of the TAAC’s top teams, 32-27 but it wasn’t enough.

In addition to Lavelle’s 22 points, Katie Almendinger scored seven points and Stephanie Kukay and Tori Wright both finished with five points. 

St. Joseph CC 31, Danbury 17

St. Joseph CC scored nearly half its points from beyond the three-point line and defeated Danbury 31-17 last week.

The Crimson Streaks got eight points apiece from Josie Weirchart, Be Reardon and Ashley Burns. The Lakers got eight points from Megan Stephens.
