Sandusky to host first AAU Tournament

Next Level Images, located in Lorain, in conjunction with Sandusky Schools, Saint Mary's Central Catholic, and Margaretta schools will be hosting the first ever "Blue Streak Bash at Cedar Point". The Blue Streak Bash at Cedar Point is a multi-age AAU basketball tournament.

The tournament begins on Friday, May 17, and runs through Sunday, May 19. Championship games will be played at the "The Den" and "MPR" at St. Mary's Central Catholic and Bogart Elementary in Castalia.

"Sandusky is a great venue for an AAU tournament", according to Brett Kinzel, assistant coach at Next Level. "We have partnered with Cedar Point to provide discounted hotel rates and discounted weekend park passes and we have a lot of gyms within a short distance from each other. For a lot of teams, this will be their last tournament of the season, so in addition to playing good competition, they can also spend some time at Cedar Point and have a great weekend. The sponsorship from Cedar Point is what makes our tournament unique. We are very grateful to them for getting involved".

AAU tournaments are a good way for the local schools to make money for their teams. The booster clubs at St. Mary's Central Catholic and Sandusky will run concession stands.

"We expect about 50 teams this year, which makes it a smaller tournament, but we expect to make the tournament much larger next year, and hopefully get Huron, Perkins and Edison schools involved", Kinzel added.

Teams have until Tuesday, May 14th to register for this year’s tournament and teams can register at Nextlevelimagesathletics.com
