Port Clinton Boys tennis took on Lexington Monday at Port Clinton High School in an Ohio Coaches Tournament Match.  The Redskins fell to 6-2 on the year as Lexington won 5 - 0.

The scores were as follows:

  • 1st Singles:  Mason Dragos (L) def. Matheus Rodrigues (PC)  6-0, 6-0
  • 2nd Singles:  Matt Youse (L) def. Noah Cross (PC) 6-0, 6-0
  • 3rd Singles:  Mark Youse def. Leandro Papa (PC) 6-0, 6-0
  • 1st Doubles:  Matt Barkett/Tommy Barkett def. Matt Fillmore/Jeff Griffin (PC) 6-4, 3-0 (retired)
  • 2nd Doubles:  Jett Acero/Carson def. Max Mercurio/Ryan Norgard (PC) 6-1, 6-1

From Coach Aaron Taylor: “Matheus ran into an excellent player in Mason who was his District's champion last year.  Noah ran into a similar situation as Matt was his District's runner-up to Mason.  Leandro also went up against a former state doubles qualifier in Mark.  At 1st doubles Jeff and Matt were forced to retire due to an injury after playing a very close first set.  Ryan and Max had a tough time against a very cohesive unit from Lexington at 2 doubles.”
