In a tight season race for the top spot in the Sandusky Bay Conference, the Port Clinton Redskin golf team, coached by Rick Dominick and assisted by Phillip Bolte, came away with the season championship.
According to Dominick, their 12-2 season was the first time the PC golf team won the Conference, the County championship and the Sectional Tournament all in the same season. They won both the season-long SBC title as well as the Sandusky Bay Conference Tournament title in the championship held at Maumee Bay State Park links.
The 2012 squad was led by Joey Kurtz (80.25/18 holes), Shane Meek (83.88/18 holes), Jason Mueller (86.63/18 holes) and Sean Black (89.88/18 holes). Other members of the team included Austin Krupp, Mitchell Mueller, Collin Schmitt, Ashton Barton and Steven Kast.
The team finished first out of 12 teams at the Sectional held Sept. 27 at Sawmill Creek in Huron, and second out of nine teams at the District, losing a trip to State on a tie breaker.
