Deerhake, Magruder honored by Marblehead Chamber

Greg Deerhake, a son of the Marblehead Peninsula, and Magruder Hospital were honored Thursday evening at the 75th annual meeting of the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce at Catawba Island Club.
Deerhake was honored with the D.S. Kirkpatrick Award named for one of the original founders of the Chamber and former publisher of the Peninsula News. The award is to honor the dedication and unselfish devotion to the principles of service to the community through the Chamber of Commerce.


Babysitter training offered at Danbury

The American Red Cross will be offering Babysitter Training at the Danbury Middle School from 3:15 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 23-24. Students must attend both sessions to receive a certificate. Lea Mark is the instructor.
Training fees are $85, however, thanks to the generosity of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, there are a limited number of full scholarships available for this training. Students should be 11-13 years old. Space is limited to 15 students.


5K Run/Walk coming up at East Harbor State Park

The 2012 Friends of East Harbor Run will be held on June 2 at East Harbor State Park, 1169 N. Buck Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. This event is sponsored by the Friends of East Harbor and is an annual fundraising event for the park. Early registration begins at 8 a.m. The Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. Early registration must be postmarked by May 26. Race forms and information are available at the East Harbor Campground Store, online at at JodyDidIt in Marblehead or by calling Jody at 419-656-7144.
