Family Fishing Day at East Harbor State Park

Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), East Harbor State Park will be stocked with 500 rainbow trout for Family Fishing Day Saturday, April 26.

Youth accompanied by an adult will be first in line to catch the trout beginning Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  No fishing will be permitted in the pond between the time the fish are stocked Friday until the fishing event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. The park will have some fishing equipment available for loan and live bait will be provided during the event.  Park volunteers will be available to assist the kids and parents with fishing.

East Harbor’s pond is located behind Lockwood Shelter parking lot, which is on the first road to the left after entering the park. The event will be held rain or shine.  All Ohio fishing regulations apply.

Fall is in the Air

Even though the first day of fall doesn’t officially start until Sept. 22, the weather we are experiencing this week makes it feel like it has already arrived. The reports of walleye in certain areas of the lake right now would confirm that it is indeed an early fall. I just hope that winter delays itself long enough for an extraordinary extended fall bite.
