B-C-S Board approves personnel and calendar changes

Wednesday, June 4, was officially confirmed as the last day of school for students in the Benton-Carroll-Salem School district. This confirmation was the result of action taken at the April B-C-S Board of Education meeting (pending no additional calamity days). The Board took advantage of a one-time waiver allowed by state law given the unusually brutal winter, which resulted in an unusually high number of calamity days for the 2013-2014 school year.

The Board’s April 22 regular meeting opened with a presentation from third grade students and staff at R.C. Waters Elementary School on how computers are a powerful instructional tool. R.C. Waters Elementary School students presented and discussed with Board members their personal learning experiences with the various online programs available to students. Students explained how real-time feedback from the online programs helps to further their learning both during the school day and outside school.
