Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools: State of the School District 2014

To the citizens, staff, and Board of Education of the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District, I wish to report to you on the state of our school district as we begin a new calendar year.

I will open with the notion that we can draw lessons from the past, but we cannot live in it.  As we take a moment to reflect on the state of our school district, it is important to note that our school district is like our nation—it is built to serve its people.  As we look forward to the year ahead, we will continue to draw on lessons from the past, but we will be urgently focused on continuing to build the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District institution.

B-C-S School Board Celebrates Progress

Present for the December District Highlight at the B-C-S Board of Education meeting regarding improvements at the OHHS Softball Field include (left to right): Mr. E.J. Croll, Coach Chris Rawski, Superintendent Guy Parmigian, and Director of Athletics Drew Grahl.

There were several issues to celebrate and appreciate at the Dec. 17 meeting of the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local Board of Education.  First, Superintendent Guy Parmigian extended commendations on behalf of the Board to Mrs. Karen Gruber, Principal at R.C. Waters Elementary School, and the staff at R.C. Waters Elementary School for being named a High Progress School of Honor by the Ohio Department of Education.  Principal Gruber pointed to the efforts and teamwork of all staff at R.C. Waters who helped to make this award possible.  R.C. Waters Elementary School was the only school in Ottawa County to earn the High Progress School of Honor recognition.  Next, Athletic Director Drew Grahl awarded commendations to 2013 Cross Country State Qualifier Tyler Sievert.

B-C-S Board Honors Lady Rocket Soccer Team

2103 Lady Rockets soccer team

The November 19th B-C-S Board of Education meeting opened with a flurry of accolades and pride as the B-C-S Board honored the achievements of the Lady Rocket Soccer Team.  The Lady Rocket Varsity Soccer Team made it to the regional state playoffs—the “final four” in the state. To get there, the Lady Rocket Soccer squad won their 6th consecutive Sandusky Bay Conference (SBC) championship. The team was the first SBC soccer team to make it to regional playoffs.  Director of Athletics Drew Grahl presented Board of Education Commendations on behalf of the Board to the following: Eiriel Davis, Paige Velliquette, Mackenzie Auger, Addie Barton, Brittany Watkins, Maddy Rathbun, Noelle Petersen, Ivy Martin, Nikki Weis, Hannah Hess, Allyson Croy, Karis DeWalt, Mikenzie Blunt, Amanda Hetrick, Emma Barney, Emaily Kamann, Emily Winters, Gillian Allen, Emily Bloom, Alexa Weis, Tessa Tyburski, Chrislyn Stevenson, along with Coach Renee Goldstein, Coach Shannon Buder, and Team Bus Driver Sue Weidner.
