B-C-S Board Honors Lady Rocket Soccer Team

The November 19th B-C-S Board of Education meeting opened with a flurry of accolades and pride as the B-C-S Board honored the achievements of the Lady Rocket Soccer Team.  The Lady Rocket Varsity Soccer Team made it to the regional state playoffs—the “final four” in the state. To get there, the Lady Rocket Soccer squad won their 6th consecutive Sandusky Bay Conference (SBC) championship. The team was the first SBC soccer team to make it to regional playoffs.  Director of Athletics Drew Grahl presented Board of Education Commendations on behalf of the Board to the following: Eiriel Davis, Paige Velliquette, Mackenzie Auger, Addie Barton, Brittany Watkins, Maddy Rathbun, Noelle Petersen, Ivy Martin, Nikki Weis, Hannah Hess, Allyson Croy, Karis DeWalt, Mikenzie Blunt, Amanda Hetrick, Emma Barney, Emaily Kamann, Emily Winters, Gillian Allen, Emily Bloom, Alexa Weis, Tessa Tyburski, Chrislyn Stevenson, along with Coach Renee Goldstein, Coach Shannon Buder, and Team Bus Driver Sue Weidner.

B-C-S School District Thanks Voters

According to unofficial results from the Ottawa County Board of Elections, voters in the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local School District passed two renewal levies on the November 5th ballot by a margin of 72% for and 28% against. One of the levies was a renewal of an operating expenses levy originally passed in August, 2000, and the other was a renewal of a permanent improvement levy originally passed in November, 1979.

B-C-S Board Looking Forward

The Benton-Carroll-Salem Board of Education took up forward looking action and discussion items at its regular meeting held on Tuesday, Sept. 24th.  First, Board members highlighted the efforts of the Rocket Soccer Complex Improvement Committee and a recent donation it received from Bechtel Corporation, a lead contractor on work currently being done at Davis-Besse Power Plant. Mr. Roger Fulwiler of Bechtel Corporation addressed the Board members and audience about Bechtel’s willingness to be a part of meaningful and worthy projects that benefit the communities they work in. Board members expressed their thanks to Bechtel Corporation for their continued support of B-C-S School District, which included a past donation of $5,000 to benefit the Music Department.
