Blackberry Corners hosts B-C-S Coffee Connections

Blackberry Corners proprietors Brenda and Jim Lowe hosted B-C-S Superintendent Guy Parmigian and Treasurer Tim Coffman for their September 10 Coffee Connections.  Coffee Connections provides an informal opportunity to introduce yourself, chat, ask questions, and learn more about the B-C-S school system and where they are heading.  All district citizens are invited to attend.  There are no reservations needed, and there is no cost to attend.

B-C-S Board highlights DECA program

On Tuesday, August 26, DECA members were the district highlight at the B-C-S Board of Education meeting. An overview of the program was presented to the board members. The program allows students to learn about business and marketing by experiencing business in action through participating in a variety of “real world” activities, classroom instruction, co-op experience, and the student organization, DECA.  Students in the program earn credits from Owens Community College in addition to Oak Harbor High School through dual-enrollment.

TNT-till next time mentoring program

60 mentors are needed for BCS and Port Clinton City Schools by August 1.  The program helps keep students in school, improves grades and self-esteem, and teaches how to relate to all kinds of people.  Mentors can expect a fulfilling experience by supporting other students while giving back to the community.  The mentors can expect to spend 45 to 60 minutes each week with the mentee in their school setting, either during their school day or after school, and must be dependable and consistent.  Interested mentors should contact Shanna Strouse, BCS coordinator, at 419-704-6366 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
