PCMS Academic Challenge team takes first Featured

Port Clinton Middle School Grade 8 team came in third at the Ottawa County Academic Challenge Meet (L to R): Lauren Steyer, Emma Eickert, Hannah Mallory, Tyler Williams, Merissa Jagucki, Paige Steyer, Hailey Ball, Delayna Laurel, Gabby Sharkey, Rachel Simpson, Lauren Shaw and Advisor Mrs. Sara Logsdon.

The Port Clinton Middle School Grade 7 Academic Challenge Team started out well at the Ottawa County Meet and never looked back. They led the entire match, and won convincingly to defend their title (they won the Grade 6 Academic Challenge title last year). Team members include Conor Cadigan, Andrew Fillmore, Alex Cline, Zoe Zgodzinski, Morgan Bagovich, Madison Vargas and Josiah Klein.

The Grade 8 team overcame a slow start and came from behind to finish in third place. Team members are Paige Steyer, Laluren Steyer, Lauren Shaw, Hailey Ball, Tyler Williams, Hannah Mallory, Rachel Simpson, Gabby Sharkey, Merissa Jagucki, Emma Eickert and Delayna Laurel.

The PCMS Grade 6 Academic Challenge Team was joined by the Grade 5 team from Bataan to compete against other teams from Ottawa County. Teams from five schools battled through four rounds of competition and in the end just 11 points separated the 5 teams. PCMS fell one point short of bringing home a trophy. Team members are Hunter Webster, Carrie Shupe, Dylan Smothers, Omar Lucero and Logan Dague.
