The B-C-S School District is pleased to announce to the community that it will open its pool located at Oak Harbor High School for an Adult Morning Swim beginning on Monday, Jan. 13. Superintendent Guy Parmigian stated, “While the priority for use of the pool is for B-C-S students and student athletes, the next priority is to open up the pool for the community members to enjoy.
The Adult Morning Swim program will be open to community members from 8-10 a.m. Monday through Friday with the following schedule and cost:
o--January 13—31st : $25
o--February 3—28th : $30
o--NO Adult Swim March 3—28th
o--March 31—April 30th: $30
o--May 1—30th : $30
o--June 2—30th : $30
The pool will be closed for the Adult Morning Swim program in March because the high school physical education classes will be utilizing the pool. The pool will also be closed on the following holidays: Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 20), President’s Day (Feb. 17), Good Friday (April 18) and Memorial Day (May 26). The district will need at least 25 participants per month to be able to break even on expenses for operating the pool with a lifeguard: “If we cannot get at least 25 people to participate, we will have to discontinue the Adult Morning Swim because we cannot afford to run the pool in the red,” said Parmigian.
Community members interested in signing up for the Adult Morning Swim should visit the Board of Education Office, which is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Adult Morning Swimmers will be required to pay one month in advance, and will be given a pass for the month. Checks should be made payable to “B-C-S Schools.” There will be a $5 discount given to Adult Morning Swimmers who want to pay cost of getting a pass for all five months (Jan. through June, excluding March).
