Mrs. Jane Drusbacky’s 5th Grade walked a few short blocks down the streets of Port Clinton to take a much larger trip back in time.
The class spent Wednesday afternoon at the Ottawa County Historical Museum with museum Curator Peggy Debien. The group had the opportunity to enjoy the history of the county they call home. The Mathews Boat Company, The Hotel Victory, Underwood’s Restaurant, and several other historical locations were subjects of interest to the group as they had their own scavenger hunt to find facts and information. The students saw Indian Artifacts left behind by the Native Americans that originally inhabited Ottawa County. Tools of Agriculture, fishing, war, and everyday life, such as a typewriter were all very interesting to the kids. The afternoon was made complete with a trip to Coffee Express for hot chocolate on their way back to school.
