Bataan Memorial Intermediate Elementary to open January 4, 2013

Bataan Memorial Intermediate Elementary to open January 4, 2013 Students, staff, and parents at Jefferson Elementary School received the news last week that they will start school in their new building Jan. 4, 2013. The renovation of the existing Bataan Memorial Elementary School is almost complete and the building has been transformed.

Staff will need to have additional training to become acclimated to their new school, new technology, and learn new emergency procedures. To accomplish this, the school district requested waiver days from the State of Ohio for Bataan Intermediate. Therefore, students in grades 3, 4 and 5 only will not have school on Jan. 2 or 3. All other grade levels resume school on Jan. 2 after the holiday break. Champions for Children, the school district’s before and after school program, will offer special programming for anyone that is in need of child care on Jan. 2 and 3 for children in grades 3, 4 and 5. Call 419.734.2815 for more information.
Jefferson Elementary students and parents will receive letters and information about the traffic patterns and a special open house for students and their parents. The final day of school in the current building on Jefferson Street will be Friday, Dec. 21.
The community will have an opportunity to see the renovated building at Bataan Memorial Intermediate Open House on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. The entire building was gutted and redesigned to resemble the new addition for Primary students (grades Pre K through 2)  that opened at the beginning of the school year.
