The R.C. Waters third grade students traveled to Carroll Township offices on Oct. 5 in observance of Fire Prevention Week.
They participated in many hands-on activities that promoted fire prevention awareness.
The students got the opportunity to operate a simulated fire extinguisher and practiced getting out of a house that was filled with smoke.
A State Highway Patrol officer talked to them about his duties, showed several of the tools that he uses every day and gave them a close look at the inside of his State Highway Patrol car.
Firefighters showed how to move through a smoke-filled room. Life Flight made a special appearance and the students were able to get a close up look at the helicopter.
The day ended as the fire department burned a house. The students were able to see the fire fighters in action as they fought the blaze.
