Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge requests public comment

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in Oak Harbor is having an open house and is encouraging the public to provide input as the staff review the refuge’s hunting and fishing programs.  The open house is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 14000 W. State Route 2, Oak Harbor.  The public is welcome to attend and discuss ideas with staff on improving hunting and fishing at the Refuge.  Call 419-898-0014 for additional information.

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge closed

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge is closed as current funding expired on October 1. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is aware that any lapse in appropriations imposes hardships on those we serve. However, due to this lapse in appropriations this facility is closed to the public and all public activities are cancelled. 

Only limited functions will continue, such as those necessary to respond to emergencies, perform essential functions and to protect human life or personal property.
