Captain Juls’ Fishing Report Featured

The Beacon is happy to announce the addition of Captain Julia “Juls” Davis to the reporting team. She will be writing a weekly fishing report to help you maximize your time on the water and help you put more fish in your boat.

Capt. Juls is originally from Wisconsin and moved to the Port Clinton area in the spring of 2001 to pursue her passion for fishing. After her relocation, Juls hit the road for eight months out of the year, to fish professionally against the "Big Boys" of walleye fishing.  For 8 ½ years she was the only full time female professional walleye tournament angler in the country.

After an amicable divorce in the winter of 2010, Juls studied for her Captain’s license. Acing her exams, she was off and running. She started a different kind of charter business called, “Juls’ Walleye Fishing Adventures” in the spring of 2012.

“My charter service is not your typical 6-pack charter,” said Juls, “I use my tournament style boat to teach people who want to learn how to troll for walleye. There are so many presentations and variables involved that it never gets boring. I love to perch fish too, more than anything, so perch fishing is always available."

Smiling, she says, "I would like to thank the Beacon for this wonderful opportunity, and my sponsors who keep my dreams alive and allow me to do things like fish for a living, and write fishing reports for the local paper".

Her sponsors include Ranger Boats, Evinrude Motors, Minn-Kota Trolling Motors, Humminbird GPS/Sonar Systems, Cannon Downriggers, Off Shore Tackle, Vic’s Sports Center, EZEE Steps, and The Jewelry Mechanic.

Juls also works full time as a bartender/server for the Catawba Island Club.  Captain Juls can be contacted by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , or by phone at 419-835-7347. Her website address is
