Arbor day thank you

The City of Port Clinton Tree Commission held their Annual Arbor Day Celebration, Friday, April 26th.  With the help of the following community members and local children, we were able to plant two beautiful Green Mountain Sugar Maple trees at the northwest corner of Jefferson and Second Streets. Cub Scout Troop 361, under the direction of leader Kim Auxter, provided the Color Guard and Flag Bearer. Singer Jaclyn Favro performed the National Anthem beautifully, accompanied by her ukulele. Girl Scout Daisy Troops #10204 and #10215, under the direction of leaders Dina Rodgers and Amber Twarek, lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader of Trinity United Methodist Church provided both the opening and closing prayers.  Readings were provided by Roseann Hickman who shared the poem “The Heart of the Tree” and Pam Schraidt who recited her own work “The Beauty of a Tree.” The children of Mrs. Moon’s Preschool Classes jumped right in to lead the planting ceremony by placing the first shovels of soil over the trees. Ed Urban of Otto and Urban prepared the site and set the trees for planting. Thanks to the generosity of the following local businesses, we were even able to provide refreshments to all in attendance. Coffee Express donated refreshing lemonade while Andy’s Party Mart, Chefsbest Catering and Community Market all donated delicious cookies for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who participated - it was truly a fantastic day as community members of all ages came together to beautify one corner of our fine City!

Thank you to all!

Stein Hospice named as 2013 Hospice Honors recipient

Stein Hospice has been named a 2013 Hospice Honors recipient, a prestigious award recognizing hospice agencies providing the best patient care as rated by the patient’s caregiver.

Established by Deyta, this annual honor recognizes the top 100 agencies that continuously provide the highest level of satisfaction through their care as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. Deyta used the Family Evaluation of Hospice Care (FEHC) survey results from over 1,200 partnering hospice agencies contained in its national, FEHC database with an evaluation period of January through December 2012. Deyta used the five key drivers of caregiver satisfaction as the basis of the Hospice Honors calculations.
