ICS grows, with the help of the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District

Becky Simpson from the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District visited Immaculate Conception School in Port Clinton this week and gave the school a lesson on being good stewards to our earth.

Ms. Simpson told the students the important role they can play in making our earth a healthy and beautiful place for all, just by conserving, recycling and not polluting. The students now have a better understanding of how Earth Day came to be and the progress we have made by respecting the planet. Each student received a pine tree sapling to plant at home. Ms. Simpson told the children that a single tree can provide enough oxygen for about four people. There are 20,000 species of trees in the world.

Immaculate Conception School would like to thank the Ottawa SWCD for the beautiful trees and for the life lesson of caring and respecting our Earth.
