Riverview Trick or Treat

Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus is gearing up for its 13th annual Riverview Trick or Treat!  Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus (Nursing Home) will open its doors to the public for Riverview’s annual Trick or Treat Night on Sunday, Oct. 27., from 6- 7:30 p.m.

Little ghost and ghouls are invited to Trick or Treat throughout the facility, collecting candy at each resident’s room.  “This is a win win for both Riverview and the Community. It gives families a safe, well-lit, warm place to Trick or Treat, and our residents have a ball getting to see all the different costumes. It is something they may have enjoyed in their own home and we are happy our Auxiliary has given us the opportunity to provide the experience right here in our building,” states Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus Administrator Kendra German. Riverview asks that only children 12 under participate in the Trick or Treat portion of the evening.

Cookies and punch will be available to guests throughout the evening.  Trick or Treaters can participate in the Costume Contest at 7:30 p.m. sponsored by Walker Family Funeral Homes. First, Second, and Third place prizes will be given out to for the “Prettiest Costume”, the “Funniest Costume”, the “Scariest Costume” and for our littlest goblins (ages 0-2 years) and “Best Baby Costume”. The contest will be judge by Woodmore Superintendent Ms. Linda Bringman, BCS Superintendent Dr. Guy Parmigian, and Port Clinton Schools Superintendent Mr. Patrick Adkins.

Guests may also participate in the Haunted Basement for a $2 donation toward the Riverview All Star Relay for Life Team. There will be Trick or Treat Story Time and Movie Time, as well a station to color a Halloween Greeting for one of our Riverview Residents.

New this year will be a Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Contest. Bring your carved/decorated pumpkin to the Riverview Multipurpose Room by 6 p.m. Visitors, bring your pocket change and vote for your favorite pumpkins. All proceeds benefit the Glass Slipper 10K run at Disney World for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, run by Riverview’s own, Sarah Williams, LPN. Winners will be named by age categories.

The Auxiliary of Riverview Healthcare Campus is donating $1,000 worth of candy, but there is always need for more.
