Janet Reed of Marblehead has been called to the ministry and has completed her studies at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Reed will be ordained on Tuesday, July 16, as an Elder in the church. After her ordination Reed will continue as interim Pastor at the Port Clinton Church of the Nazarene, located at 205 West 4th Street in Port Clinton. Reed will lead services in Port Clinton on Sundays at 10:45 a.m. There will be a reception in the Church Hall in her honor on Sunday, July 21, after services.
Reed, who was the long time manager of Cheese Haven, has a teaching degree from Bowling Green University. She will be expanding youth programs at the Port Clinton church and hopes to add after school study sessions. Reed is also opening the church for meetings for ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) and other groups. Although a small church, the Port Clinton Church of the Nazarene has long been known for its community outreach, including Pancakes in the Park and the popular Halloween Rest Stop. The Church is also open for a free meal every Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before youth and adult classes.
